Lynx Technology Partners announced Thursday that it will sponsor the Aric K. Perminter Endowment Fellowship for the International Consortium of Minority Cyberspace Professionals (ICMCP).
The fellowship is aimed at helping talented women and minority students bridge the "great minority cyber divide" that finds women and people of color underrepresented in the fast growing field of cyber security. Two students will be selected to receive the award in their junior year with each receiving $2,500 annually for up to two years.
The fellowship came on the heels of President Obama's TechHire initiative, which focuses on training Americans for well-paying technology jobs. In January Vice President Joe Biden put the emphasis on diversifying the security ranks when he announced that the Department of Energy would provide a $25 million grant for cybersecurity education in historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
