NCSC kicks off counter spear phishing video campaign

The National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) has introduced a new program to help government workers avoid cyber attacks, specifically spear phishing, which have plagued several federal agencies this year.

Called "Know the Risk, Raise Your Shield," the NCSC effort centers on two videos that attempt to initiate the uneducated PC user into the world of cyber crime. The initiative is an attempt to halt, at the source, attacks such as the one that struck the Office of Personnel Management earlier this year that snatched the personal information of 22 million people.

The first introductory video shows a person nonchalantly clicking on a link that quickly leads to his bank account being drained. The second offers tips on how to spot a fraudulent email and what to do if one is found. The video, below, is hosted on YouTube and can be found on the NCSC homepage.
