CyberScoop reports that the U.S. Cyber Command has detailed before Congress $236 million in priorities that were not funded under the Biden administration's fiscal year 2023 spending request for the agency, including nearly $168 million for its Cyber Mission Force.
The Cyber Command noted that the $168 million in funding for the CMF would have been leveraged for providing stronger operational support and advanced training for personnel involved in offensive and defensive cyber operations. While CMF teams, which are composed of Defense Department military personnel, were included in Cyber Command in 2015, they were only completely operational three years later.
Moreover, the wish list also noted the greater need for funds aimed at bolstering "operational support to each of the Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture (JCWA) components to provide critical cyber capabilities."
Aside from including $56.4 million for JCWA integration to help the CMF achieve command-and-control levels, the Cyber Command also outlined $12.1 million for accelerating its "organic cyber intelligence capability to gain unique access to strategic competitor targets."
