Separate cyber incidents impact Kannact, other health organizations

Separate health data breaches have been disclosed by Oregon-based digital health firm Kannact, Massachusetts-based mental health and addiction treatment center New Horizons Medical, and Philadelphia-based orthopedic clinic Vincera Institute, HealthITSecurity reports. Data from 103,547 individuals, including names, birthdates, phone numbers, and protected health information, as well as some Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers, have been compromised in the Kannact breach, which stemmed from unauthorized network access in March. On the other hand, New Horizons had information from 12,317 patients, including names, addresses, SSNs, medical record numbers, and prescription details, exfiltrated following unauthorized IT systems access from February to April. Meanwhile, Vincera has reported data compromise impacting 25,000 patients across four of its facilities following a ransomware attack in April. Potentially exposed data include patients' names, SSNs, contact information, insurance details, and treatment records. All of the impacted organizations have disclosed adopting more stringent security measures following their respective breaches.
