Ongoing DDoS attacks hit Switzerland following ransomware attack

BleepingComputer reports that Switzerland has warned that several Federal Administration sites and online services have been disrupted by ongoing distributed denial-of-service attacks launched by pro-Russian hacktivist operation NoName, which initially compromised the parliament website amid discussions of sending foreign aid to Ukraine. "The Federal Administration's specialists quickly noticed the attack and are taking measures to restore accessibility to the websites and applications as quickly as possible," said the Swiss government on its government portal. Such an intrusion comes nearly a week after the Swiss government confirmed having its data compromised following a Play ransomware attack against Swiss IT vendor Xplain. Xplain had several documents with sensitive data stolen by Play ransomware on May 23, with the ransomware operation posting all of the exfiltrated data on its leak site on June 1. Investigation into the exposed data is underway. "Clarifications are currently underway to determine the specific units and data concerned. Contrary to the initial findings and following recent in-depth clarifications, it has to be assumed that operational data could also be affected," said the Swiss government.
