ScanSource outages attributed to ransomware attack

BleepingComputer reports that U.S. cloud, SaaS connectivity, and network communications provider ScanSource has disclosed that some of its systems, customer portals, and business operations have been impacted by multi-day outages as a result of a ransomware attack on May 14. Operations of ScanSource in North America and Brazil are expected to be impacted in the coming days, indicating the significance of the incident. Aside from conducting its incident response plan and notifying law enforcement regarding the attack, ScanSource has also sought cybersecurity experts to help in the investigation into the extent of the incident, as well as in the adoption of disruption mitigation strategies. "The company is working diligently to bring affected systems back online, while also mitigating the impact on its business. ScanSource regrets any inconvenience or delays in business this may cause customers and suppliers in North America and Brazil and appreciates their patience," said ScanSource, which owns managed services firm intY and cloud service provider Intelisys.
