US puts up $10M reward to disrupt Clop ransomware gang

Rewards of up to $10 million are being offered by the U.S. State Department's Rewards for Justice program to individuals with any information that would establish a connection between the Clop ransomware operation and foreign governments, BleepingComputer reports. "Do you have info linking CL0P Ransomware Gang or any other malicious cyber actors targeting U.S. critical infrastructure to a foreign government? Send us a tip. You could be eligible for a reward," said the Department's Rewards for Justice program in a tweet. Such a bounty program was introduced following the widespread Clop ransomware attacks involving the exploitation of a zero-day flaw in the MOVEit Transfer file-transfer app that commenced over the Memorial Day weekend and has already impacted the U.S. Department of Energy and various other federal agencies. Clop ransomware has already begun extortion efforts and while it insisted that all stolen government data has already been deleted, the possibility that such information will be exploited in future attacks remains.
