Ray Rothrock: “Assume attackers are in your system”

As cyber attacks increase, IT departments continue to be challenged by older techniques, such as targeted phishing attacks because the attacks bypass perimeter defenses and are difficult to prevent. Ray Rothrock, CEO of RedSeal Networks, spoke with SCMagazine.com on how to mitigate risks.

Spear-phishing attacks are especially challenging because they change the response needed to protect against these threats. It is no longer a matter of stopping threats at the periphery, Rothrock said.

“Assume it's in, assume you're going to click on it, and assume it's going to disperse itself,” he added.

Rothrock was named CEO of RedSeal in 2014.
