According to the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS), software firm Microsoft has calmed worries that the Australian Parliament was being spied on via an NSA backdoor.
Microsoft told the Parliament that there was “no backdoor within the Microsoft suite of products,” and that the company had made no attempt to “source information" from the parliamentary network, a Tuesday article in The Guardian revealed.
The announcement came in response to November claims that Parliament members' communications were being monitored by U.S. spies. Concerns were driven by classified documents leaked by whistleblower, and former NSA contractor, Edward Snowden.
