Cyberattack at Iran’s atomic energy agency confirmed

BleepingComputer reports that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has affirmed that email servers of one of its subsidiaries have been compromised following leaks of stolen data by the Black Reward hacking operation. Foreign state actors have exfiltrated emails, including technical memos and daily correspondence, from the impacted servers, according to AEOI, which added that preventive measures were immediately implemented to avert further compromise, while notifications have been sent to individuals and officials who may have been affected. "It is obvious that the purpose of such illegal efforts, which are carried out out of desperation, is to attract public attention, create media atmospheres, and psychological operations, and lack any other value," said a translated AEOI statement. Some of the data stolen in the attack have been leaked by Black Reward on its Telegram channel, where a 27GB RAR archive collection with 85,000 emails has been exposed. Black Reward claimed that only content of value has been retained in the leaked data.
