Kurdish group claims responsibility for hacking Idaho city website

McCall City, Idaho's municipal website was hacked and defaced late last week by a Kurdish group claiming to be anti-ISIS and anti-Turkey

The site, www.mccall.id.us, was taken over with messages like “Hacked by Serwan | Kurdish Hackers” emblazoned on the page that normally carries information on city council meetings and local events. In addition to the note, the webpage was painted black and carried an image of the Kurdish flag and a map of Syria, Iraq and Turkey the group claims is Kurdish, said a posting by the cloud security firm BatBlue.

“I will be fighting for as long as I live. You can't force us not to be Kurds…We have always been Kurds and always will be,” was also posted on the McCall site.

The city's IT department was able to restore the site after a few hours.
