It’s back…Dridex campaigns on uptick

After a post-holiday slowdown, FireEye researchers saw an uptick in Dridex spam campaigns during January, according to a blog post.

Noting the short breaks in action, the researchers wrote that Dridex attackers were building momentum again with a spike during the first week of January and then a few large waves in the weeks after, primarily aiming the attacks at the manufacturing, telecommunications, and financial services sectors.

“The Dridex operators may have taken a break after Christmas, but soon after the New Year they ramped up their activities and resumed their operations as usual,” the researchers wrote. “It is important for organizations to remain vigilant with user education, proactive detection technologies and security policies that help prevent cybersecurity threats.”
