Three indicted in Switzerland for phishing scam

Three people have been charged in Switzerland for computer fraud, according to an AP report.

The three are alleged to have stolen credit card details on 133,600 consumers from October 2009 until they were arrested in 2014 and 2015.

In announcing the news on Tuesday, the Swiss attorney general's office said the suspects profited from their theft and fraudulent use of credit card data that victimized cardholders all over the globe.

It's alleged that the three carried out their campaigns via phishing attacks, using emails, websites and text messages.

They were nabbed in Bangkok and extradited to Switzerland where they remain in custody while a trial is prepared.

Swiss officials said this was the nation's first indictment in a global phishing case.
