Irish data protection agency investigates Adobe breach

Ireland's Data Protection Commissioner Billy Hawkes is investigating the major breach that struck Adobe last year impacting about 38 million customers.

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) is tasked with regulating online privacy rights, and in doing so, intends to look into the data theft which many British customers have complained about, a Wednesday article at tech blog Gigaom said.

Adobe reported the breach to ODPC, as Adobe Ireland is responsible for customer data outside of North America, Gigaom reported. If a company fails to adhere to ODPC's data protection regulations, it could face being fined.
