Facebook offers privacy tips, updates

Facebook has unveiled its Privacy Basics, a set of features and updates that offer tips and answer questions about how to control and protect their information on the social media site, according to an announcement penned by Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Erin Egan.

The updated information explains how the company acquires location information from users, details privacy features and policies, explains how Facebook companies and apps work together, and outlines the company shares information with advertisers.

Noting that users can opt out of ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance or through controls on iOS and Android, Egan said, “When you tell us you don't want to see these types of ads, your decision automatically applies to every device you use.”

As users have questioned its information-sharing and use policies, Facebook has upped its privacy measures.
