Company News: Personnel announcements from Sophos, PwC, and others

»Sophos, a global security solutions provider co-based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, U.K. and Burlington, Mass., has appointed Kris Hagerman (left) as CEO. A former CEO of Corel, Hagerman has also worked at Symantec and Veritas. Steve Munford, who served as the CEO of Sophos since 2006, will become a non-executive chairman of the board. Current Sophos Chairman Peter Gyenes will continue serving on the board as its lead independent director.

»PwC US has hired four additions to its U.S. forensic services practice. Kristofer Swanson (right) joins as a partner leading the Midwest forensic team. Laurie Schive, who is based in McLean, Va., takes on the role of a director in the firm's U.S. forensic services practice. Richard Dorough and Marc-Philip Ferzan also joined as managing directors.

»Cornelius Grady has joined NetSecurity, which provides cyber security consulting and training services, as director of business development. He will be responsible for all business development and sales activities to aid in continued company growth. Grady has more than 20 years experience in information technology, and previously held leadership positions at PwC, IBM and Systems Engineering.

»The Cloud Security Alliance and Fujitsu Laboratories of America has announced the launch of the Big Data Working Group, which will lead efforts for collaborative research and solutions to industry security challenges. The group will be chaired by Sreeranga Rajan of Fujitsu, and co-chaired by Neel Sundaresan of eBay and Wilco Van Ginkel of Verizon. Topics the group will tackle include privacy issues magnified by large-scale cloud infrastructures and diversity of data sources and formats.

»Sunnyvale, Calif.-based cloud security company Zscaler has appointed two new executives. Rebecca MacDonald (left) has been appointed as the head of worldwide marketing and Thomas Miller as head of North America sales. Miller was previously the president of Trend USA, while MacDonald was vice president of marketing at Attensity, which provides social analytics and engagement applications for social customer relationship management.

»North Canton, Ohio-based Diebold has acquired GAS Tecnologia, an internet and mobile banking security firm based in Brazil. Diebold is a security systems entity, which sells, manufactures and installs self-service transactions systems, including ATMs. GAS, which protects nearly 70 percent of internet banking transactions in Brazil, has more than 125 employees working in cyber security.
