Ubisoft ‘Watch Dogs 2’ promo shows hidden data of in selfies

Multinational video game company Ubisoft launched a microsite called “Selfie Reveal” that encourages users to upload their selfies to help show users the type of data stored in the images.

While many of the results are tongue in cheek, the site's Selfie Report feedback includes analytics containing data that could be valuable to hackers such as a user's location, facial measurements, and suggestions to what computers can interpret from facial expressions.

While the site is part of a broader campaign to promote hacker-themed video game "Watch Dogs 2," Ubisoft is also looking to open the conversation about technology and hacking.

“Selfies do not just convey the information your naked eye can see, but the image may contain metadata including additional details about you or where the picture was taken," David Maynor, a hacking adviser on the games developer team told Adweek.
