Any chief information security officer must be able to speak on a technical level to engineers and analysts, as well as be able to explain how tactical metrics impact the business and mission to an organization’s executives and board members.
Listen to episode 14 of the CISO Stories podcast to hear Edward Marchewka, founder and creator of CHICAGO Metrics, explain how the CISO must also be chief storytelling officer and how different metrics can be applied to different groups so each can improve their performance over time.
“In information security, you have to understand how everything works together — not only the IT pieces, the information security pieces, but also the business — and how one thing is going to impact the other,” Marchewka said.
In addition to founding and creating CHICAGO Metrics, Marchewka also serves as the vice president of IT and quality services and strategic planning for Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.
