In the role, Aubley will be responsible for thought leadership, technical vision and strategy in delivering cyber solutions for the company's North and South American markets. Prior to taking on the role, Aubley served as vice president and CTO for next generation cyber innovation and technology in Lockheed Martin's information systems and global solutions division.
» Nok Nok Labs, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based authentication firm, has secured $16.5 million in funding led by worldwide PC maker Lenovo Group Limited and venture capital firms DCM and ONSET Ventures. Nok Nok Labs will use the investment to accelerate the development and reach of its NNL S3 authentication suite and expand its sales, business development and marketing efforts. George He, SVP and president of Lenovo's Ecosystem and Cloud Services Group, will join Nok Nok Labs board of directors.
» Bit9, a Waltham, Mass.-based endpoint security firm, has merged with Carbon Black, a San Antonio, Texas-based incident response firm. The combined entity will retain the Bit9 name and provide customers with endpoint and server security solutions as well as real time incident response. With the merger, Carbon Black's entire team will join Bit9, along with Mike Viscuso, chief executive officer of Carbon Black, who will move into the role of chief strategy officer and report to Patrick Morley, Bit9's chief executive officer.
» Apprity, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based cloud security company, has secured $8 million in funding led by Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) and Wing Ventures. With the investment – which is expected to drive product research and development, expand industry partnerships and support Apprity's product vision – Promod Haque, NVP's senior managing partner and Gaurav Garg, founding partner of Wing Ventures, will join Apprity's board
» Tony Craythorne (right) has joined Quorom, a San Jose, Calif.-based one-click backup, recovery and continuity solutions provider, as vice president of sales. Prior to the move, Craythorne served as senior vice president of worldwide sales at Connected Data/Drobo, where he led sales and marketing initiatives at the company. Craythrone has also held executive sales positions at 3VR, Brocade and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS).
» Cylance, a math-based threat detection and prevention firm in Irvine, Calif., has secured $20 million in series B funding led by investment and venture capital firms Blackstone, Khosla Ventures and Fairhaven Capital. The funding will be used to enhance and execute Cylance's artificial intelligence platform and advanced endpoint threat detection and prevention market strategy.
» Qualys, a Redwood City, Calif.-based cloud security and compliance firm, has partnered with AlgoSec, a Boston, Mass.-based security policy management company, to enable customers to better manage security and risks across their organizations. Through the partnership, the firms will integrate the QualysGuard Vulnerability Management (VM) solution with the AlgoSec Security Management Suite to provide customers with improved threat visibility into their data center applications.
