A Rochester man accused of hacking into accounts of young women

A Rochester man was charged with hacking the personal accounts of 150 young women over the course of several years.

Federal authorities are accusing 36-year-old Justin Potts of accessing the accounts of college age women and routinely accessing additional accounts for the same victims, according to a Department of Justice press release.

Potts has been charged by criminal complaint with unauthorized access of a protected computer after allegedly conducting a multi-year, multi-state campaign to access the women's university and personal emails, Facebook, Apple iCloud, and online password manager accounts.

Authorities said they found files containing nude, partially nude, and revealing images of the women whose accounts he had accessed along with nude images of celebrities believed to have been downloaded from file sharing sites, in Potts possession.

If convicted Potts could face 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
