Why nominated: Maurice Stebila has spent more than 30 years in the automotive, manufacturing and financial services industry supporting two of the world’s largest companies - EDS/General Motors and Harman by Samsung working in the cybersecurity space.
Profile: This year Maurice was one of 16 global Cyber Resilience Think Tank leaders that formed an independent group of industry influencers dedicated to understanding the cyber resilience challenges facing organizations across the globe, and together, providing published guidance on possible solutions to the cybersecurity industry.
Over the last year Stebila advocated for companies to receive a Cybersecurity Risk Score, which is similar to a personal credit score, but as a way to measure a company’s cyber risk. If widely adopted the score would be reviewed as a prerequisite of doing business and establishing future partnerships and Stebila is engaged with the vendor community to validate that best practices and new measurements get implemented as security risk scores will be a game- changer for the industry as a whole. Finally, Stebila helped coordinate the April 2019 Digital Transformation Privacy event that was held in the Metro Detroit Area to discuss GDPR and the new California Privacy Act (CCPA).
