Company news: New execs at Malwarebytes and an acquisition by VMware

»Malwarebytes, a San Jose, Calif.-based online threat protection firm, has appointed two new senior executives to its team. Mark Patton (left) has joined as VP  of engineering and Chad Bacher has come aboard as VP  of products. Previously, Patton served as VP  of R&D at GFI, where he managed a team across five countries overseeing product architecture and development. In his new position, he will help Malwarebytes develop its existing products and create technology focused on advanced threat protection for customers. Bacher, who was formerly  Webroot's chief product officer, will guide market strategy.

»Brian Lozada has joined Abacus Group, a New York provider of hosted IT solutions for hedge and private equity funds, as director of information security. Prior to joining Abacus Group, Lozada was the director of information security at Condé Nast. He brings more than 14 years of experience in information security, and at Abacus he will be responsible for the development of new and existing security solutions offered by the firm, which secures financial institutions' enterprise systems, data and applications. Lozada will report to CTO Viktor Tadijanovic

»VMware, a Silicon Valley-based virtualization and cloud infrastructure provider, has acquired CloudVolumes, a real-time application delivery technology firm in Santa Clara, Calif. With the deal, VMware aims to enhance its offerings, in part, by integrating CloudVolumes technology into its products and lowering desktop and application infrastructure and management costs for customers.

»Eric Ouellet has joined Bay Dynamics, a San Francisco-based provider of information risk intelligence and security analytics, as VP  of strategy. He will report to the CEO, and be responsible for overall market and product strategy, as well as channel and partner enablement and communications. Ouellet has more than 25 years of experience in information technology and was, most recently, an esteemed analyst at technology researcher firm Gartner, where he worked for 10 years

»vArmour, a Mountain View, Calif.-based security startup focused on protecting enterprises' data-defined perimeters, has raised $36 million in Series B and C funding. The financial backing will help vArmour scale development and sales teams to assist enterprises in defending advanced security breaches and other threats. The firm has been in stealth mode for three years, and plans to launch later this year.

»Jack Wilson (left) has joined Secunia, a vulnerability management solutions provider, as vice president and general manager of North America. At the Denmark-based company, Wilson will be tasked with leading Secunia's North American sales strategy, execution and expansion. Wilson, who brings more than 25 years of experience to Secunia, previously served as vice president of global sales at Covisint.

»Jacinta Tobin has joined San Mateo, Calif.-based live attack intelligence provider Norse as SVP of global sales. Tobin, who was named one of the top 50 most influential women in technology by Silicon Valley Global magazine last year, will lead Norse's global growth efforts. SShe also becomes the company's first SVP of global sales. Tobin has more than 20 years of experience leading global sales, business development and marketing for technology start-ups.
