Symantec to acquire Company-i

Symantec will acquire the U.K. based professional services firm, Company-i.

The Cupertino, Calif. vendor announced today that it has agreed to buy the London-based firm as part of its global consulting business. The transaction is expected to close in the following weeks.

The Company-i group will join Symantec's Global Services organization, a part of the Europe, Middle East and Asia services team, and initially focus on UI.K.-based clients.

Symantec believes the acquisition will further its Global Services capability and provide assistance to clients in the financial services industry, architecting and running the IT infrastructure of data centers, while also reducing operational risks.

Greg Hughes, executive vice president of Global Services at Symantec, said: "Company-i's consultants understand the data center. They help large enterprises reduce IT risk and costs by reducing infrastructure complexity, improving service management and increasing automation."

Mark Pennycook, Company-i CEO, said: "Symantec's Global Services strategy around managing IT risk makes them a trusted advisor for addressing critical data center challenges. Symantec is an ideal environment for our professionals to continue focusing on our clients' needs and priorities."
