Mike Coogan has been in the cyber security space as both a leader and as a practitioner for over 25 years, most recently as Senior Director of Information Security for Waste Management Inc., North America’s leading provider of integrated environmental solutions. Mike was with Waste Management from 2012 to 2023, bringing over 20 years of broad experience to drive all aspects of the information security program. In this role, he had international responsibility for security strategy, architecture, policy and standards, awareness, GRC, compliance and all of the underlying IT systems such as identity management, information protection, and threat management. Mike has also done cyber security for Allstate Insurance Company and the University of California. Mike currently consults with CIOs throughout the country on technology strategy and new platform adoption.

Mike has earned a Master’s of Science degree from the University of California at Irvine, and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is certified as a CISSP and a CISM.
