Brightly Software’s online platform impacted by data breach

BleepingComputer reports that U.S. tech firm Brightly Software has disclosed that its SchoolDude educational operations management platform was impacted by a data breach, which resulted in the theft of customers' personal data and credentials. Attackers were able to exfiltrate some customer account information, including names, phone numbers, email addresses, account passwords, and school district names, as a result of the incident, said Brightly in data breach notification letters sent to clients. All SchoolDude users' passwords have already been reset by Brightly. "Because passwords were affected in this incident, we are writing to remind you of the importance of using a strong and unique password for each online account you maintain. If you are currently using your SchoolDude password for any other online account, we recommend that you promptly change your passwords on those other accounts," Brightly added. More than 7,000 universities, colleges, and K-12 schools have been using SchoolDude for work order management.
