Sixt impacted by cyberattack

Global car rental firm Sixt has been experiencing "temporary disruptions" following a cyberattack aimed at its IT systems, according to SecurityWeek. Suspicious IT system activity was reported by Sixt on Friday before a cyberattack was confirmed. "As a standard precautionary measure, access to IT systems was immediately restricted and the pre-planned recovery processes were initiated. Many central Sixt systems, in particular the website and apps were kept up and running. Thereby, impacts on the company, its operations and services have been minimized to provide business continuity for customers. However, temporary disruptions, in particular in customer care centers and selective branches, are likely to occur in the short term," said Sixt, which has over 2,000 locations in more than 110 countries. No ransomware group has so far admitted to be responsible for the attack on Sixt. The company could be listed on a ransomware site later this month, said SecurityWeek.
