Dell’s EMC PowerScale receives security, performance upgrades

Dell announced that its EMC PowerScale solution for network-attached storage devices is receiving a set of new tools that provide more “flexible consumption, management, protection and security capabilities,” ZDNet reports.

The new features are enhancements to Dell’s PowerScale OneFS and DataIQ software, which enable expanded storage management capabilities, as well as performance monitoring, compliance and auditing to ensure simplified file storage at scale. Meanwhile, Dell has enhanced its API-integrated ransomware protection features and upgraded it with cloud deployment options, according to the company.

Among the new security features unveiled by Dell is the Cyber Protection and Recovery solution, which provides support for organizations responding to a ransomware incident and now also includes the Superna Ransomware Defender tool.

Dell also introduced Dynamic NAS Protection, which can be accessed through PowerProtect Data Manager, and “delivers a simple, modern way to protect NAS systems through enhanced backup for file data enabling up to 3X faster backups and up to 2x faster restores,” the company said in a release.
