What happened? Kosovo native Ardit Ferizi was sentenced in federal court in Alexandria, Va., after pleading guilty to providing aid to the Islamic State.

Sentence: Under a plea agreement reached in June, the 20-year old Ferizi agreed to a maximum term of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Jurisdiction: The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia

Background? Ferizi was charged with and plead guilty to providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization and accessing a protected computer without authorization and obtaining information. In the commission of these acts he provided the names of 1,300 U.S. government and military workers to the Islamic State. Ferizi obtained the names by hacking into a private company's network where he was able to located the names, email passwords with .gov and .mil extensions along with their phone numbers.
