The verdict is in: 30-year-old Ross Ulbricht was found guilty on all charges for his involvement and creation of the Silk Road marketplace.
During a three and a half hour deliberation on Wednesday, a New York jury determined Ulbricht to be the real “Dread Pirate Roberts” and charged him with one count of narcotics conspiracy, one count of engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, one count of conspiracy to commit computer hacking and one count of money laundering conspiracy, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) press release.
Ulbricht faces a minimum of 30 years in prison and a maximum of a lifetime sentence.
Ulbricht's case might not be over just yet. His defense team vowed to appeal the decision with particular focus on objections to the judge's decisions during the case. The team has until April 4 to do so.
