MongoDB unveils upgrades for encryption, data analytics

MongoDB announced at its MongoDB World conference that its MongoDB 6.0 open-source NoSQL database and its MongoDB Atlas managed cloud database will be receiving updates enabling easier data encryption and analytics, according to SiliconANGLE. The new release of the database will have a Queryable Encryption feature, which ensures data encryption while they reside in a servers memory and while travelling across a servers central processing unit. In situations where enterprises users or applications must query their records, Queryable Encryption allows them to do so without needing to decrypt the data, securing the data from hackers who may have infiltrated their network, according to the company.Meanwhile, the new Column Store Indexes capability rolling out on MongoDB 6.0 and MongoDB Atlas aims to speed up large-scale data analytics tasks by creating an index, which enables enterprises to obtain specific data more quickly. MongoDB Atlas is also getting a tool called Atlas Data Lake which will provide greater support for analytics workloads by providing managed cloud object storage.
