Google secures BigQuery data with new tool

Google has recently launched Automatic Data Loss Prevention, a new tool for its BigQuery data warehouse that allows users to find and set access policies for sensitive data, according to TechCrunch. According to Scott Ellis, Google's product manager for Automatic DLP, the new offering addresses the challenges facing many BigQuery users in identifying personal identifiable data belonging to their customers, ensuring that data is secured, and generally governing their data more effectively. "We really feel that one of the challenges that they face is really just that initial awareness or visibility into their data," Ellis said. The tool comes with a number of dashboard templates allowing users to view an advanced summary of their data through Google's Data Studio, a graphical investigation tool and deeper data analysis through Google Cloud Console. The Google team also included a feature allowing users to set how often and under what conditions their data gets profiled and added integration with Google's Chronicle security analytics service.
