Evernote takes precaution following Adobe breach

November 25, 2013

Evernote users who shared the same email for both their Evernote and Adobe account will receive a prompt to change their password. The notetaking software company compared compromised Adobe accounts to its users' email addresses, with plans to notify those who match.

According to Evernote's note to users, the company hasn't been breached but is acting proactively. Additionally, it offers password security tips, such as not clicking on ‘reset password' requests in emails, and instead, going directly to the service.

Facebook and other websites also implemented similar efforts this month.

The company also suggests signing up for its new two-step verification system, which requires users to input a unique code sent to a user's mobile device as an additional security measure.

The October Adobe breach affected more than 30 million users. The attackers remain unknown.
