Sally Beauty confirms payment card systems intrusion

In a brief Thursday statement, Sally Beauty confirmed that an illegal intrusion into its payment card systems has occurred.

“However, we will not speculate on the scope of the intrusion as our forensics investigation is still underway,” Chris Brickman, president and CEO of Sally Beauty, said in a Thursday release. “We are working diligently to address the issue and to care for any customers who may have been affected by the incident.”

The Texas-based international beauty supplies retailer announced earlier this month that it was investigating reports of unusual activity involving payment cards used at some of its U.S. stores.

This is the second incident announced by Sally Beauty in just longer than a year. In 2014, Sally Beauty announced that fewer than 25,000 records containing payment card data were illegally accessed by intruders and may have been removed.
