U.S. under cyber attack, losing ground to adversaries

The National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCIC) has responded to more than 600,000 cyber incidents so far this year, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official told a Senate committee on Wednesday.

Suzanne Spaulding, undersecretary of the National Protection and Programs Directorate for the DHS, told senators the incidents prompted more than 10,000 alerts and resulted in the center sending out on-site technical support teams. Spaulding was one of several cyber security pros that provided sobering testimony before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

The FBI's Robert Anderson, told the committee “The bottom line is, we're losing a lot of data, money and innovation” to our foes, according to a report in The Hill.
