VoIPtalk informs customers of possible data breach

The U.K. voice over IP provider VoIPtalk has emailed a notification to customers warning of the potential compromise of user login credentials.

ZDNet cited a posting on UKvoipforums that contained the VoIPtalk email notice. The notice said the company's security monitory system discovered activity “activity involving external online attempts to exploit vulnerabilities in our infrastructure to obtain customer data.”

While there is no firm indication that the attempts to infiltrate VoIPtalk's system were successful, the company has decided to be overly cautious and notify those customers potentially involved. The specific data in question is the VoIPtalk VoIP/SIP password so the company is telling its users to change their password and inform it if any unusual activity is detected with their account.
