Ransomware attack impacts Eisai

Share
Major Japanese pharmaceutical firm Eisai has confirmed that some of its systems have been encrypted following a ransomware attack over the weekend, reports BleepingComputer. Several IT systems around the world, including those for logistics, have been taken down by Eisia in an effort to contain the attack, which was identified on June 3. "We immediately implemented our incident response plan and launched an investigation with the aid of our cybersecurity partners [and] a company-wide task force was convened to rapidly work on response procedures," said Eisai, which added that it is looking into potential data leaks but emphasized that no impact has been reported on its corporate websites and email systems. No ransomware operations have claimed responsibility for the attack on Eisai but the pharmaceutical company was previously compromised in December 2021 by the AtomSilo ransomware gang. Numerous database dumps claimed to be stolen from Eisa had been exposed by AtomSilo before it ceased its operations.
