CommScope’s response to ransomware attack eludes employees

Major U.S. network infrastructure firm CommScope has been reported by its employees to have not provided any updates on its recovery efforts more than a week after it confirmed having been impacted by a ransomware attack on March 27, which resulted in the compromise of corporate and employee data, TechCrunch reports. Such an attack, which was already claimed by the Vice Society ransomware operation, has prompted widespread disruption for days, according to employees, who said that they were last notified regarding the incident on April 18, when CommScope reported having no evidence suggesting the exposure of employee data. However, files with thousands of current and former CommScope employees, including their names, Social Security numbers, and bank account details, have already been seen by TechCrunch. CommScope has also refused to specify the number of people it had informed regarding the incident. "CommScope continues to work expeditiously on its investigation to review the affected data. We're moving as quickly as possible, however, these types of data reviews take time and we want to be accurate and complete in our notifications to affected individuals. We continue to maintain direct communication with our employees, as appropriate, as we have throughout the entirety of this incident," said CommScope spokesperson Cheryl Przychodni.
