ComiXology requires all users to change passwords following breach

Digital comics platform ComiXology is requiring all users to change their cryptographically protected passwords after an unauthorized individual gained access to a database of information.

How many victims? Undisclosed.

What type of personal information? Usernames, email addresses and cryptographically protected passwords.

What happened? An unauthorized individual gained access to a ComiXology database that contained the information.

What was the response? ComiXology is notifying all users and requiring them to change their passwords.

Details: The breach was discovered during a recent review and upgrade of security infrastructure. Payment account information is not stored on ComiXology servers and was not accessible.

Quote: “We have taken additional steps to strengthen our security procedures and systems, and we will continue to implement improvements on an ongoing basis,” according to the notification letter.
