The Australia-based human resource software firm PageUp has suffered a data breach that may have revealed information associated with many of that company's customers, however, the company believes any information that was exposed was properly encrypted.
PageUp said in a statement that on May 23 its team noticed some irregular activity on its network and a follow up investigation revealed on May 28 that some client data may have been comprised. PageUp, in conjunction with an outside forensics team, is continuing to study the situation.
“There is no evidence that there is still an active threat, and the jobs website can continue to be used. All client user and candidate passwords in our database are hashed using bcrypt and salted, however, out of an abundance of caution, we suggest users change their password,” said PageUp CEO and co-founder Karen Cariss.
No details were revealed regarding how many of its clients were potentially involved. PageUp has an international portfolio of customers that includes the Tatts Group, Colorado School of Mines and Mississippi State University.
